Residents at The Grange recently embarked on a journey around the world without leaving home, enjoying a themed tea-tasting session…
Residents at The Lodge recently enjoyed a very special visit from Little Hoof Therapy, who brought along two friendly Shetland ponies for an afternoon that quickly became the highlight of the day.
Residents loved the opportunity to pet, feed and spend time with the ponies, with plenty of smiles and conversation sparked by their visit. The gentle nature of the animals made them popular with everyone they met, creating lots of memorable moments throughout the home.
For people living with dementia, animal visits can provide comfort, encourage interaction and help trigger fond memories. Experiences like these can support wellbeing while bringing something a little different and exciting into the day.
The Lodge is HICA’s specialist dementia care home in Buckshaw Village, where meaningful activities and enriching experiences are an important part of daily life. Visits such as this one help create opportunities for connection, engagement and enjoyment for residents.
Following the success of the visit, residents and staff alike are already looking forward to seeing the Little Hoof Therapy ponies again in the future.
