Local fish and chips shop donates free food to Buckshaw Retirement Village

Residents and staff at Buckshaw Retirement Village were delighted when a local fish and chip shop supplied them with enough free meals to feed them all in a generous display of community togetherness

Nana Jan’s fish and chip shop made the generous donation as part of their drive to support their local community during the challenging COVID19 times. At the end they had delivered over 130 portions of fish and chips along with mushy peas.

Julie McGlough, Health & Wellness Manager, said “Our residents and staff were truly delighted with their fish and chip. We can’t thank Nan Jan’s enough for their generosity.

“This is a challenging time for everyone and treats like this mean a lot. It’s fantastic to know the community are looking out for each other”

Nana Jan’s launched in Buckshaw Village on 20th April 2018 and they have worked hard to integrate into the Buckshaw and Chorley community. They have been just been shortlisted in the NATIONAL FISH AND CHIP AWARDS for marketing innovation in what is the Oscars of the Fish and Chip industry. The award ceremony is in

January in London.

The team at Nana Jan’s have worked hard to integrate into the Buckshaw and Chorley community and have undertaken a number of initiatives since launch including but not exhaustive:

“Buckshaw Retirement Village is a very special place with a real sense of community and we are thrilled to help out. We would like to support the staff and residents and give something back so we have decided that this would be a good way of doing exactly that.”

Nana Jan’s would also like to thank V. A. Whitley and Co and Jess Turner for their generous contribution of fish and chips to this event.
