We are investing in the futures of our employees with a new Team Leader Development Programme. The training program will be provided to all current and new Team Leaders across our 17 homes, retirement villages and homecare services.
The new training programme will be run jointly by the Learning and Development and HR departments, incorporating the expertise of operational specialists at HICA, providing staff with a comprehensive course.
Designed to enable staff to develop a wide-ranging skill base, the blended programme mixes classroom and on-the-job coaching with more technical, role-specific units and follow up competency assessments. The programme covers a variety of subjects from managing team performance and shift management to safeguarding to safe management of medication.
We offer extensive training to all our staff, including a complete company induction when joining to regular refreshers and bespoke learning initiatives to support change. Many staff working for HICA go on to do further training and development and move up to more advanced roles.
Steve Reed, Learning and Development Manager said ‘We are supportive of the development and career aspirations of all our staff. Even if you have never worked in care before we can provide you with all the training you need, to become a valued member of the HICA family. We have had staff start out as a Care support worker at HICA and go on through various roles to then become care home managers after doing further training with our support.’
The Team Leader Development Program will take staff 12 weeks to complete. We commenced roll out of the programme in May 2022 and has committed to enrolling all current and future Team Leaders on the programme within 12 months.
