The Market Square
The Market Square leads directly on to a safe and self-contained inner courtyard with water features and meandering paths where you can sit and enjoy the sensory planting or join in with the gardening. Managed by the market square coordinator, the square boasts a whole host of venues and destination spaces where people can wander through with purpose or stop and take part in especially designed and appropriate activities.
This specialised environment has been created and updated to support people to remain engaged and connected, to encourage socialisation and enhance independence.
A place to socialise, enjoy a pint, or a glass, meet friends and join in with quiz and games nights designed so that people of all abilities can join in. Pie and Pea suppers, breakfast clubs and Bingo are all important aspects of the Buckshaw Arms social life.
Open 7 days a week between the hours of 7am to 2pm, The Black Cat Café offers breakfasts, light bites and refreshments for residents’ staff, family and friends. In the afternoon and evenings organised activities take place under the leadership of the market square coordinator and run by Lodge team members and volunteers.
Showing everything from current tv programmes to vintage black and white movies, our little cinema has something for everyone. Popcorn and hot dog cinema nights are very popular! Family and friends are always welcome for a cinematic experience and a trip down memory lane.
Visiting hairdressers and beauty therapists work in The Salon to provide hair and beauty services to residents, families and friends. Appointments can be booked at Reception or through our Market Square coordinator. Lookout for our special pamper days!
A quiet space to relax in, meet with family and friends, The Lounge also hosts our state of the art Tovertafel table. A magic table that supports people of all abilities and cognitive ranges to join in, interact with others and reduce stress, which is hugely important in the management of dementia related illnesses.
